James Copeland
His karate journey began with The Goju style under Lou Angel in Tulsa, Ok. and continued in Shotokan beginning in 1965 , under Shojiro Sugiyama in Chicago. That Shotokan journey continues today, nearly 5 decades after that experience in the Sugiyama Dojo.
He first joined ATAMA in 1993 at the recommendation of Sensei Elmar Schmeisser, who was a member of ATAMA. That year, the president of ATAMA was Bernie Weiss from the Southern California Chapter.
