Renshi Amy Rayford, 6th Dan

Amy Rayford began training in the Rayford Shorin-Ryu dojo in Merced, CA. in 2001.  She quickly realized that she loved the art and it had become much more than an activity to her; it became a way of life to her.  As a brown belt, she was asked to teach a children’s class wherein she realized that she loved passing along the art to others.  In 2003, her passion for training had become evident and Amy earned her 1st Degree Black Belt in Shorin-Ryu Karate.

In 2006, Amy was awarded “Female Black Belt of the Year” by the World Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate-Do and Kobudo Association (WOSKKA).  This award caused her to be nominated for a Hall of Fame inclusion in the Master’s Hall of Fame.  Amy’s nomination was accepted and she was inducted into the Master’s Hall of Fame in Newport Beach as the “Female Black Belt of the Year” for 2006.  In 2008, Amy Rayford became the wife of her teacher, Sid Rayford and she has been the business partner and dojo matriarch thus since.  Amy Rayford now a 6th Dan, Renshi and has almost 19 years of training; and she serves as the WOSKKA and ATAMA General Secretary.
